Deputies Shoot, Wound 2 Suspects Following Long Beach Pursuit
LONG BEACH (CBSLA) – Two men driving a reported stolen truck were shot and wounded by Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies in Long Beach Tuesday morning following a chase, authorities said.
The shooting took place just 10:30 a.m. in the area of Carson Street and Via Oro Avenue, according to the sheriff's department.
The two suspects were rushed to a local hospital in unknown condition. No deputies were hurt.
Aerial footage from the scene showed a crashed pickup truck. Witnesses told CBS2 that a pursuit precipitated the shooting.
Seven sheriff's deputies in all were involved in the shooting, but none of them were injured.
There was no word on whether the suspects fired on deputies or what they were initially wanted for.
Carson Street was shut down and nearby businesses were placed on lockdown for several hours as authorities investigated the shooting. The public was advised to avoid the area.
