Deputies Make Arrest In Connection With Deadly OC Stabbing

STANTON (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say a 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the stabbing death of a man in western Orange County.

The Orange County Sheriff's Department said in a statement that Daniel Perez-Munoz of Garden Grove was arrested and booked on suspicion of murdering Phuong Huynh, 52, also of Garden Grove.

The statement says deputies responded about 7:20 p.m. Saturday to a call of a man down near Garden Grove Boulevard and Court Street in Stanton.

When they arrived on scene, they located Huynh in an alleyway.

The statement says that it's believed Huynh was stabbed during an "unprovoked altercation."

"Based on witness statements and evidence recovered at the scene, Perez-Munoz was located and detained a short time later, less than a mile from the scene," according to the statement.

Perez-Munoz is scheduled to appear in court on Monday. He was being held in lieu of $1 million bail.
