Dense Fog Prompts Southland Flight Delays, Cancellations

SAN DIEGO (CBSLA.com) — Thick fog has prompted a handful of delays and cancellations at San Diego International Airport.

At least a dozen flights were diverted to LAX and Ontario Airport late Thursday night due to the limited visibility.

Jet Blue also confirms two flights from New York City's John F. Kennedy International Airport were diverted to Long Beach Airport and LAX.

Dozens more delays and cancellations were reported Friday, as a dense fog advisory remained in place for parts of San Diego, Orange and Los Angeles counties.

Passengers at LAX were also experiencing delays and cancellations due to winter storm Hercules, which is wreaking havoc on the East Coast.

Travelers were advised to check the statuses of their flights before heading to the airport.
