Denny's Jumps In With Burger Of Its Own To Mediate Burger King Peace Offering

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Now that McDonald's has rejected Burger King's proposal to collaborate on a "McWhopper" in a show of unity, Denny's has come up with a peace offering of its own.

With the Big Mac-plus-Whopper combination off the table, the diner chain took out full-age ads in The New York Times and USA Today showing plans for a new creation that would add an egg, bacon and hash browns to the classic Whopper.

"Hey @BurgerKing, we love the idea of a peace burger," Denny's says. "We're just not sure what to call this thing. Any ideas?"

Denny's suggests "The Whoppaslam," "The Slopper" and "The Slamopper" as possible names for the hybrid burger.

hey @burgerking …or the Whoppaslam©? The Slopper©? The Slamopper©? wouldn't that be whopperslamalicious?! https://t.co/t1FACtBhgv

Burger King's original proposal to McDonald's was tied to a nonprofit called Peace One Day, that calls for an "annual day of global unity" Sept. 21. McDonald's responded "our two brands could do something bigger to make a difference."
