Plane At Long Beach Airport Cleared After Bomb Scare

LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — A bomb scare originating from a tweet led to the delay of at least two flights at Long Beach Airport, authorities said.

JetBlue Airways Flight 216, which originated from Seattle, and was scheduled to depart from Long Beach about 8:30 p.m. Friday and was delayed.

"This all originated with a tweet to JetBlue from somebody out there about a bomb scare from a plane that was arriving here at Long Beach Airport from Seattle," reported Sky9's Stu Mundel.

Mundel said that plane, which was headed to Texas, has since been cleared and took off shortly after 10:30 p.m.

"The plane was cleared by officers," Mundel said, adding that one other flight was also delayed as a result of the security scare.

No further information was available.
