Deadly Shooting Investigation Underway In LA

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Homicide detectives Sunday investigated the circumstances surrounding a shooting that claimed the life of an adult man and wounded three other people.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, deputies were sent shortly before 9 p.m. Saturday to the 12800 block of Cook Street for report of an assault with a deadly weapon.

Upon their arrival, authorities discovered an unknown suspect shot at three adult men and one female juvenile.

"The first victim, a male Hispanic adult, was found laying on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds to the torso," said Deputy Juanita Navarro-Suarez. "He was pronounced dead at the scene."

The coroner's office has not yet released the man's identity.

The three other victims were transported to a hospital with non-life threatening conditions. An update on their conditions was not immediately available.

At this time, no suspect description has been provided.

The investigation is ongoing as the motive for the shooting remains unclear.
