Deadly Shooting Investigation Underway In Lancaster

LANCASTER (CBSLA.com) — Homicide detectives Tuesday investigated the shooting death of an adult man in Lancaster.

Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies responded around 11 p.m. Monday to the 44000 block of Gingham Avenue for reports of shots fired in the area.

"When they arrived on scene, they discovered a trail of blood that led to the backyard of a residence," Deputy Mike Barraza said. "They followed the trail and located an unconscious man who was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his torso."

Deputies immediately performed CPR on the victim, who was described as an African American man.

Paramedics transported the victim to a hospital where he later died. His identity is being withheld pending family notification.

No suspect description has been provided at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.
