Deadly Shooting Investigation Continues In Bassett

BASSETT (CBSLA.com) — Homicide detectives Wednesday continued to investigate the circumstances surrounding a shooting that killed a man and wounded a woman in Bassett.

Around 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, authorities responded to the 13100 block of Valley Boulevard for report of a gunshot victim call, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Upon their arrival, deputies located an adult Hispanic man suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper torso, and an adult Hispanic woman suffering from a gunshot wound to her lower body.

Paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld pending family notification.

The woman was transported to a hospital. An update on her condition was not immediately available.

A preliminary investigation revealed the shootings happened beside a taco truck parked outside of a restaurant in the area. A gunfight took place during an apparent robbery.

Deputies said the gunman fired 10 to 15 shots at the taco truck.

It remains unclear if the incident is gang-related.

Detectives described the suspect as a Hispanic man who stands 6-foot-4 tall.

The investigation is ongoing.
