Man Fatally Shot By Armed Robber At Gas Station In Hyde Park

HYDE PARK (CBSLA.com) — A man in his thirties was shot and killed at a gas station in Hyde Park, police said Thursday.

The deadly shooting unfolded around 7:00 p.m. Wednesday in the area of Florence Avenue and Crenshaw Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

A preliminary investigation revealed the victim was trying to buy gas when an unknown man approached him and attempted to rob him at the gas station.

The suspect fled from the location after firing rounds at the victim.

Paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld pending family notification.

According to police, a person of interest has been detained.

The investigation is ongoing as the motive for the shooting remains unclear.
