Deadly Shooting Investigation Underway In Hawthorne

HAWTHORNE (CBSLA.com) — Homicide detectives Tuesday investigated the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a man in Hawthorne.

The shooting was reported around 8:41 p.m. Monday in the 11900 block of Daleside Avenue, according to sheriff's deputies.

Upon their arrival, authorities located an adult African American man slumped over the steering wheel of his parked vehicle, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper torso.

Paramedics transported the victim to a hospital where he later died. His identity is being withheld pending family notification.

A preliminary investigation revealed the victim was shot by an unknown man as he was getting into his after leaving a residence at the location.

The suspect fled from the scene in an unknown direction.

No weapons were recovered at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
