Deadly Shooting Investigation Underway In Compton

COMPTON (CBSLA.com) — Homicide detectives Wednesday investigated the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of an adult man in Compton.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, deputies were sent around midnight to an alley way located in the 2100 block of North Long Beach Boulevard for report of a shooting.

Authorities were originally notified by Century Station deputies who observed a Nissan Sentra parked at the location.

"Deputies looked inside the vehicle and saw a male Hispanic adult sitting in the front passenger seat suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper torso," said Deputy Kelvin Moody.

Paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld pending family notification.

At this time, there is no suspect description.

The investigation is ongoing.
