Deadly Crash Closes Portion Of Sunset Boulevard In West Hollywood

WEST HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — A portion of the Sunset Strip has been shut down due to a deadly traffic collision.

Around 4:30 a.m. Thursday, a vehicle collided into construction scaffolding in the 8800 block of Sunset Boulevard, according to the West Hollywood Sheriff's Station.

The vehicle then flipped over, struck a light pole and came to rest on its side at Larrabee Street.

Deputies said a male driver was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld pending family notification.

Sunset Boulevard between San Vicente Boulevard and Holloway Drive will remain closed until around 2:00 p.m., officials said.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
