Tow truck driver killed on southbound 110 Freeway in South Los Angeles while helping others
Several lanes of the southbound 110 Freeway in South Los Angeles were closed on Tuesday morning after a tow truck driver was fatally struck while trying to help others.
California Highway Patrol officers responded to the scene shortly after 1:30 a.m. The initial report was for a vehicle versus a pedestrian.
The preliminary investigation shows that a tow truck driver was assisting another person on the right shoulder when they were struck by another car passing by.
First responders from the Los Angeles Fire Department pronounced one person dead at the scene.
The CHP has issued a Sig Alert on the freeway just south of Florence Avenue, which caused traffic delays for morning commuters.
