2 Bodies Recovered In Wrecked Pickup Truck Identified As That Of Missing Teen Hikers

LA CANADA FLINTRIDGE (CBSLA.com/AP) — Authorities have identified two of three bodies found in the wreckage of a white pickup truck Monday as belonging to that of two teenage missing hikers.

The victims were identified as Daniel Gamboa, 19, and Kasey Vance, 18. They, along with 17-year-old Samantha Ornelas, had told relatives they were going hiking Saturday in the Angeles National Forest, then went missing.

The identity of the third body has not been released.

Their truck was found Monday night about 150 feet below the Angeles Crest Highway about 15 miles north of La Canada Flintridge.

It had reportedly plunged about 600-feet down the side of the mountain. An uncle of one of the victims has identified an emblem on the truck's crushed tailgate at the scene.

Authorities haven't confirmed whether the third body was that of Ornelas, though a GoFundMe page has been setup to assist her family with services.
