5 Freeway Reopens In Sylmar Following Deadly Crash

SYLMAR (CBSLA.com) — A woman was killed Tuesday in a traffic collision on the 5 Freeway in Sylmar.

The crash unfolded shortly before 3 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the freeway, located at the 210 Freeway, according to California Highway Patrol officers.

Upon their arrival, police learned a young woman was ejected from a vehicle on the freeway.

Paramedics pronounced the woman dead at the scene. Her identity is being withheld pending family notification.

It remains unclear how many vehicles were involved in the collision.

Caltrans reopened the freeway shortly after 6:30 a.m., officials said.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
