Deadly assault investigation underway in Marina del Rey

A man who had apparently been stabbed was found dead Tuesday in Venice near Marina del Rey.

Officers were sent to the 600 block of Washington Boulevard at about 6 a.m. after a passerby reported seeing what appeared to be a body lying on the ground between two homes, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The man, believed to be about 40-45 years old, died at the scene from apparent stab wounds, police said. His name was not immediately available.

The cause of death will have to be determined by the coroner's office, police said.

Video footage from SkyCAL showed multiple police vehicles blocking the roadway as they look for more evidence.

No arrests were reported, and no suspect information was available.
