1 Killed In Apartment Fire In Lomita

LOMITA (CBSLA.com) — One person was killed Tuesday in a residential fire in Lomita.

According to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, the fire broke out around 5:45 a.m. in a two-story apartment building located in the 26000 block of Narbonne Avenue.

Upon their arrival, firefighters located smoke and flames showing from the second floor of the building.

It took crews 20 minutes to extinguish the fire.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene. The gender and age of the victim remains unclear at this time. Their identity is being withheld pending family notification.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
