DCFS Worker Being Treated For Moderate Burns; Two Suspects Sought

SANTA FE SPRINGS (CBSLA.com) — Police on Thursday searched for a man and woman who attacked an employee of the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services with an unknown chemical.

Just before 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, both suspects approached the woman in the parking lot of DCFS, located in the 10300 block of Slusher Drive, and threw an unknown chemical at the woman, according to the Santa Fe Springs Police Department.

The victim subsequently sustained moderate burns on both of her arms. She ran into a bathroom to wash off the substance while someone else called police.

Paramedics transported the woman to Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital in Whittier for treatment of second-degree burns. Her condition remains unknown at this time.

According to police, both suspects fled from the location in a blue or gray sedan.

A preliminary investigation revealed the suspects used a caustic chemical during the attack.

No detailed description of the suspects has been provided. However, officers said the woman was seen with her hair in a ponytail while committing the crime.

At this time, it remains unclear if the attack was linked to a case the victim had worked on at DCFS.
