Davis, Udenyi Lead Pepperdine Past Howard, 53-45

MALIBU (AP) — Stacy Davis scored 18 points with 11 rebounds and Amadi Udenyi came off the bench to score a career-high 16, including three 3-pointers as Pepperdine survived a lengthy scoring drought to beat Howard 53-45 Wednesday night.

The Waves (7-2) remain a perfect 5-0 at home but only after Udenyi and Davis heated up late to score 11 of Pepperdine's last 17 points to fend off Howard (6-7).

The Bison, without second-leading scorer James Miller (flu), led only once but played an aggressive zone and never let the Waves go up more than nine. James Carlton pulled Howard to 36-35 during a Pepperdine scoring drought that lasted 7:35 down the stretch. James Daniel III made it 44-43 with a 3-pointer but the Bison never got over the hump.

Daniel led Howard with 22 points and Carlton added 13 with 11 boards.
