Damage From Rockslides Forces Closure Of Angeles Crest Highway

LA CAÑADA FLINTRIDGE (CBSLA.com) — A section of the Angeles Crest Highway east of La Cañada Flintridge will remain closed through early August due to rockslides and roadway damage caused by last weekend's storm.

The 18.3-mile stretch of the highway, which is also known as state Route 2, is closed between Islip Saddle at the intersection of state routes 2 and 39 and Big Pines, Caltrans spokesman Patrick Chandler said.

Caltrans is in the process of hiring a contractor to repair the highway, Chandler said.

Those who trespass on the closed portion of the highway are subject to citation or arrest, he said.
