'Criminal Minds' Star Joe Mantegna To Be Honored With Ernie Award

STUDIO CITY (CBSLA.com) — Joe Mantegna of the hit CBS show "Criminal Minds" visited KCAL9 Friday.

Mantegna will honored with the Ernie Award for his acting achievements and humanitarian efforts on behalf of veterans and military organizations during the Borgnine Movie Star Gala on Saturday.

This is the second year Nancee Borgnine, daughter of Ernest Borgnine, has presented at the Borgnine Movie Star Gala in honor of her late father.

The gala was founded by Borgnine in 2013 to honor the memory of her father, Academy Award-winner Ernest Borgnine, who died in July of 2012.

Memorial Day 2013 marked the 12th year Mantegna has co-hosted or performed at the National Memorial Day Concert on the steps of the U.S. Capitol.

In 2009, Ernest Borgnine joined Mantegna in honoring veterans at the concert.

Mantegna also serves as national spokesperson for the Campaign to Build the Museum of the United States Army.

Last year, actor Sean Penn was honored with the first Ernie Award.
