Water Main Break Near Elementary School In Pacoima Leaves Students High And Dry

PACOIMA (CBSLA.com) — Los Angeles Department of Water and Power crews worked to repair a water main break on Wednesday near a school in Pacoima.

Around 2:30 a.m., an eight-inch cast iron pipe ruptured outside Sara Coughlin Elementary School, located in the 11000 block of Borden Avenue near Terra Bella Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Crews turned off water in the area and looked for a secondary way to supply water to the school. Officials said the school trucked in drinking water and brought in portable bathrooms.

In addition to the school, 15 other nearby buildings also lost water service.

By Wednesday afternoon all water service had been restored to the area, authorities said.
