Crews Work To Repair Water Main Break In Hollywood

HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Crews worked to repair a water main break Friday that has ruptured in the Hollywood area.

According to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, a 6-inch pipeline that was installed in 1934 broke around 1:45 a.m. near Clinton Street and Kenmore Avenue.

Officials have turned the water off and will make necessary repairs to the roadway throughout the morning.

At this time, it remains unclear how large of a pipe broke in the area.

Water is expected to be restored by 2 p.m. today.

Officials said about 20 customers have been affected by the incident.

On Thursday, two separate pipelines ruptured along on Melrose Avenue, which sent water gushing into the street.

Authorities said an 8-inch cast iron pipe broke near Gower Street and Melrose Avenue.

Water was out of service for quite some time in an area near Melrose and Vermont avenues in East Hollywood after a 12-inch pipeline broke.

All three water main breaks occurred about two miles apart from each other.
