Crews Work To Contain Small Brush Fire In Whittier

WHITTIER (CBSLA.com) — Crews Thursday are working to contain a brush fire that has erupted in Whittier.

The fire broke out around 10:11 a.m. in the area of Mar Vista Street and Colima Road, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Firefighters said the blaze is currently burning uphill across three acres with 75 percent containment.

Crews are working to put hose lines around the fire. A Bell helicopter was seen dousing 360 gallons of water over the flames.

Authorities explained no structures have been threatened by the flames, and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire will be investigated.
