Crews Work To Clean Up Petroleum Oil Leak From Streets In Cypress

CYPRESS (CBSLA.com) — Crews worked to clean up an oil leak Thursday that appeared along a busy street in Cypress.

Around 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, 10 to 15 gallons of petroleum oil began to seep up from the ground located on Cerritos Avenue near Valley View Street, according to the Orange County Fire Authority.

Firefighters explained two underground pipes -- belonging to Chevron and Plains All American Pipeline -- are located near where the leak occurred.

Investigators are currently working to determine which pipe the oil is leaking from.

At this time, the eastbound lanes of Cerritos Avenue from Valley View to Holder streets remain closed until further notice.

It remains unclear when officials plan to reopen the area.

No evacuations or injuries were reported.
