Crews Search For Missing Dirt Biker In Los Padres National Forest

LOS PADRES NATIONAL FOREST (AP) — Authorities on Monday evening were searching for an off-roader believed to be lost in the Los Padres National Forest.

Ventura County Sheriff's Capt. Mark Frankie says the man, who was riding his dirt bike on forest land, called a fellow rider Monday morning to say his bike broke down. Frankie said the man couldn't be reached on his cell phone since that call.

Search and rescue crews believe he was somewhere in the Lockwood Valley area.

Frankie said a helicopter search was suspended at nightfall, and crews on the ground will look for the man through the night.
