Crews Snuff Out Fire On Colossus Ride At Magic Mountain

VALENCIA (CBSLA.com) — A structure fire was reported Monday at the Six Flags Magic Mountain theme park in Valencia, authorities said.

Officials received a call about a reported fire at the park at 26101 Magic Mountain Parkway, according to Los Angeles County Fire officials.

The 1,000-square-foot fire was located on the Colossus ride, LA County Fire Inspector Scott Miller told KNX 1070 NEWSRADIO.

"There's nobody inside [the ride] from our knowledge," Miller said.

The fire was extinguished within a half-hour, authorities said.

No injuries were reported.

It wasn't immediately clear what caused the fire.

Colossus was recently closed to make way for the construction of Twisted Colossus, which will combine the iconic wooden structure with 5,000 feet of state-of-the-art track. Twisted Colossus is scheduled to debut in summer 2015.

The original Colossus wooden coaster opened on June 29, 1978 and offered its farewell run on August 17.
