Crews Extinguish Warehouse Fire In Van Nuys

VAN NUYS (CBSLA.com) — Crews on Thursday extinguished a fire that erupted within a warehouse in Van Nuys.

Shortly after midnight, firefighters were sent to the 14900 block of Calvert Street near Kester Avenue for report of a commercial fire, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Upon their arrival, authorities located smoke showing from reThink Environmental, a business that produces lighting, energy and surfacing products, located within a one-story warehouse building.

Firefighters said flames quickly spread to a second business, KCK Industries, which provides health care and hygiene products.

In total, 161 firefighters extinguished the blaze within just over two hours.

One firefighter was treated at the scene for heat exhaustion.

No other injuries were reported.

Monetary loss is still being evaluated.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
