Crews Quickly Douse Brush Fire In Sun Valley

SUN VALLEY (CBSLA.com) — A brush fire broke out in Sun Valley shortly before 6 p.m.

The fire burned along San Fernando Road, just north of the I-5 freeway before crews got the flames under control.

The Los Angeles City Fire Department said it suspects that the fire may have been originated from a small homeless encampment along the roadside.

A large column of smoke, originating from the quarry area, could be seen for several miles.

Crews, meanwhile, hurried to get water on a number of additional small fires in the surrounding area to prevent flames from expanding over a larger area.
