Crews Put Out Brush Fire Near Westlake Village Homes

WESTLAKE VILLAGE (CBSLA.com) — Dozens of firefighters made quick work of a brush fire Thursday in Westlake Village, authorities said.

The five-acre fire was reported around 11:50 a.m. near East Potrero Road and Pixton Street, according to Ventura County Fire Capt. Mike Lindberry.

About 130 VCFD and Cal Fire firefighters were on scene, Lindberry said.

Crews had the fire out sometime around 12:45 p.m., authorities said.

The blaze began as a small spot fire that quickly ran up a nearby hill in thick brush near some homes, according to Lindberry.

No evacuations were ordered.
