Crews Snuff Out Small Brush Fire In Castaic Area

CASTAIC (CBSLA.com) — Firefighters made quick work of a brush fire in the Castaic area Thursday afternoon.

The fire began shortly after 2 p.m. and a parcel of land surrounding the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Wayside medium-security facility in the 29000 block of Old Road, according to Inspector Chris Reade of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

About 115 firefighters and three helicopters were deployed to fight the blaze, Reade said.

It was reportedly extinguished around 2:30 p.m., according to officials.

No evacuations were ordered.
