Crews Battle 35-Acre Brush Fire Near Moreno Valley

MORENO VALLEY (CBSLA.com) – Firefighters were battling a 35-acre brush fire near the Riverside County community of Moreno Valley that sparked Monday night.

The fire was reported at 7:30 p.m. around Moreno Beach Drive and Locust Avenue, just north of Moreno Valley, according to the Riverside County Fire Department. No evacuations had been ordered.

By 8:40 p.m., forward progress of the blaze had been stopped, but crews were expected to spend several hours mopping up and watching for flare-ups. There were no reports of damage or injuries.

About 175 firefighters from RCFD and CAL Fire were battling the blaze with the help of two air tankers.

There was no word on a cause.
