Arson Team Investigating 2-Story Building Fire In Westlake District

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — More than 100 firefighters Monday battled a 2-story building fire in the Westlake District.

The fire was reported at 4:09 a.m. at 2871 W. 7th Street, the Los Angeles Fire Department said.

"A large fire occurred in the back half of the building" with four people inside, Deputy Chief Mario Rueda said.

Officials said the 9,000-square foot commercial and residential building was undergoing renovations at the time.

The fire was declared a knock down at 5:55 a.m.

One person suffered from smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.

Arson investigators have not found any clues to connect the 7th Street fire the nearby apartment building on Freemont Street in downtown.
