Crenshaw District Celebrates With Taste Of Soul

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — There was plenty of great music, great food, and lots of family fun in the Crenshaw District Saturday.

What started as a Crenshaw District block party has grown into all things South L.A. This marks the eleventh year for a Taste of Soul festival.

CBSLA anchor Pat Harvey was the honorary emcee representing CBS2 and KCAL.

"All of the local vendors also get a chance to shine," Harvey said. "You come down here and taste their wares and maybe you'll come back and help promote business, that's what it's all about."

There's more to the festival than just great food, music and fun.

"I know how to dream big but this has far exceeded even my dreams," Danny Bakewell Sr., festival founder said. "We're going to be giving away $100,000 in scholarships. This  is a family festival with a purpose."
