Creative Fan's Project Introduces 'Star Wars' Action Into Heart Of LA

CULVER CITY (CBSLA.com) — As the hype around the next 'Star Wars' movie continues to grow, one fan gave the films a local spin through a creative video, which has gathered plenty of attention online.

Kaipo Jones' video project, entitled 'Invasion: Los Angeles', features vehicles from the popular franchise, including TIE Fighters and Star Destroyers, flying around areas of Los Angeles and attacking vehicles and buildings.

Jones, a Culver City visual artist and 'Star Wars' fan, spent over a month on the project, and says he was careful not to imply any damage on specific LA landmarks.

"I actually was worried about blowing some specific things up," Jones said. "That's why if you look at the video closely, I don't really blow up any iconic thing. I just have it in the frame, in the shot."

After effects, 3D animation and technical graphics helped bring the video to life, earning tens of thousands of views online in less than 24 hours.

The video can be watched in its entirety here.
