101 Freeway partially closed after orange crates spill across lanes

The 101 Freeway closed for at least an hour after crates full of oranges spilled across several lanes near Universal Studios Wednesday afternoon.

The California Highway Patrol said they closed the right three lanes of the southbound 101 Freeway near Vineland Avenue for at least an hour as officers and crews tried to clean up the mess.

Since it was near the 134 and 170 connectors, the spill caused traffic to back up to the adjacent freeways.
