2 Critically Injured In Lincoln Heights Shooting, Crash

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A car-to-car shooting critically injured a 15-year-old boy who was riding in a car, which crashed into a truck and injuring the driver in Lincoln Heights.

Officers responded to the area of Medford and Ricardo streets at about 6:45 a.m., Los Angeles police Officer Drake Madison said. The boy was found in a red four-door sedan with a gunshot wound at that location and was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

The driver was found suffering a "blunt force" injury about a block away on Soto Street and Valley Boulevard and was also taken to a hospital in critical condition.

With County-USC Medical Center about a quarter-mile away, police think the driver may have been rushing the teenager to the hospital when they crashed. The injured driver jumped out of the car, ran up the hill to Soto and collapsed.

Police say the shooting may have been gang related.

Two men have been detained and are be questioned by police. The investigation has closed  Soto between Multnomah and Alcazar; and Valley Boulevard westbound at Soto Street, near USC's Health Sciences Campus.
