Cousin Arrested In Fatal Stabbing Of Pasadena Couple

PASADENA (CBSLA.com) — The cousin of one of two people killed in a stabbing in Pasadena was arrested Tuesday, police said.

Jacob Mallory Bersson, 29, was arrested for the murder of his cousin, Lawrence Bressler, 50, and his wife, 64-year-old Denise.

Bersson, who lived in an apartment with the couple in the 200 block of N. Madison Avenue, is accused of repeatedly stabbing the Bresslers Monday morning.

"Sometime during the assault, Mr. Bressler called 911 for help and identified his cousin Jacob Bersson as the suspect," Lt. Terysa Rojas said.

Officers quickly responded to the scene and located Bersson about a block away from the scene with a laceration to his arm.

He was transported to a local hospital and later arrested.

Bersson is being held on $1 million bond and will make his first court appearance on Wednesday.

The Bresslers died at the hospital, officials said.

A motive for the attack was not released.
