Court Upholds Lockup For Boy Who Killed Neo-Nazi Dad

RIVERSIDE (AP) — A California appeals court has upheld juvenile detention for a Southern California boy who shot and killed his neo-Nazi father in 2011 when he was 10.

A division of the 4th District Court of Appeal on Monday said a judge's decision to send the boy to juvenile lockup as opposed to a less-restrictive residential treatment center was made properly after consideration of all the evidence.

Authorities say the boy shot and killed his father, 32-year-old Jeffrey Hall, at point-blank range as he slept on a sofa in their home May 1, 2011. According to the appeals court, the boy told officers his father had repeatedly abused him.

Amy Quartarolo, an attorney for the boy, declined to comment on the ruling.
