Couple Critically Injured After Car Slams Into Tree In Long Beach

LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — A woman and a man were critically injured Monday morning when their car crashed into a tree in Long Beach, police said.

The accident happened at Los Coyotes Diagonal and Stearnlee Avenue and lost control of the car, which struck a tree on the center median and caught fire, he said.

Long Beach firefighters extricated both victims from the car and took them to hospitals, where they were in critical but stable condition, Faris said.

The cause of the crash was under investigation.
