Coroner's Office ID's San Gabriel Woman Killed Thursday

LOS ANGELES  (CBSLA.com) — A woman who authorities believe was shot dead by her brother at a San Gabriel apartment on Thursday morning was identified by the Los Angeles County coroner's office on Saturday.

Coroner's Lt. David Smith identified the woman as 32-year-old Tanaya Goins. She suffered a single gunshot wound, and was pronounced dead at the scene in the 5100 block of Rosemead Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies were called to the scene at 6:40 a.m., following a report of shots fired. In addition to Goins, they found a 13-year-old boy, believed to be her son, who had minor injuries.

About 14 hours later, Riverside County deputies arrested the woman's brother, Johnny Goins, 31, at a mall in Moreno Valley, according to Los Angeles County Deputy Trina Schrader.

Officials have said they believe the killing was the result of a domestic dispute, and Johnny Goins was identified as a suspect. Following his arrest, he was turned over to Los Angeles County sheriff's officials, Schrader said, to be booked for suspicion of murder.
