Coroner ID's Hang Glider Killed In Sylmar

SYLMAR (CBSLA.com) — A 59-year-old man killed while hang gliding in the Kagel Canyon area Saturday has been identified.

Markus Michael Albert Schaedler of West Hollywood was with four other hang gliders when he jumped from a mountain peak known as Hang Glider Point, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Those hang gliders contacted deputies around 6:20 p.m. when Schaedler failed to show up at a rally point.

Officials searched the area and found Schaedler's body and his mangled hang glider.
