Coroner IDs Foreign Exchange Student Who Drowned In Anaheim Pool

ANAHEIM (CBSLA.com) — A foreign exchange student from China who drowned in the swimming pool of his host family was identified on Saturday.

The Orange County Coroner's office identified the deceased as 16-year-old Yuan Zhao. Zhao died at Anaheim Regional Medical Center on Aug. 6, after being pulled from the residential pool.

The Los Angeles Times reports that Zhao had arrived from China several weeks earlier.

Anaheim Police Department Lt. Bob Dunn said Zhao was swimming by himself, according to City News Service. Foul play was not suspected, Dunn added.
