Coroner Identifies 34-Year-Old Man Allegedly Stabbed To Death By Girlfriend

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com)  —  The Coroner on Sunday publicly identified a 34-year-old man who was allegedly stabbed to death by his girlfriend during an argument at their South Los Angeles home.

The victim was identified as Ty Garland, according to the Coroner. The official cause of death is pending an autopsy, the coroner's website state.

Officials said Katrina Jeaneene Rawls remains in the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood in lieu of $1,050,000 bail.

Rawls is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 14, according to the sheriff's inmate records.

Authorities said the victim and the accused were involved in an argument at their home in the 2000 block of East 114th Street, a little after 5:50 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27, when he allegedly tried to strangle her, according to Officer Tony Im of the LAPD's Media Relations Section.

Rawls armed herself with a kitchen knife and stabbed him several times, Im said.

Paramedics rushed Garland to a hospital, where he later died from his knife wounds.

Rawls was booked on suspicion of murder, he said.
