Corona Police Respond To Deadly Collision Involving Vehicle And Pedestrian

CORONA (CBSLA.com) —  Police in Corona are investigating the deadly collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian early Sunday morning.

The crash occurred just before 2 a.m. in the 1400 block of W. Sixth Street, authorities said.

Officers dispatched to the location found Timothy Herrera, a 36-year-old Montebello man, lying deceased at the intersection of Sixth Street and Smith Street.

Authorities located a gray Toyota Corolla -- with collision damage -- being driven by Hugo Guzman, 36, of Buena Park.

A preliminary investigation indicated  the Toyota was heading west on W. Sixth Street and entered the intersection at Smith Street striking Herrera.

The Corona Police Department's Collision Response Team is handling the investigation.

No o arrests have been yet made in the case and it is unknown if alcohol or drugs played a factor in the accident.
