Corona Man, 29, Killed When He's Rear-Ended By Pickup Truck On 91 Freeway

ANAHEIM (CBSLA.com)  —  Authorities said a 29-year-old man was killed Sunday when he was rear-ended in an early-morning crash on the 91 Freeway in Anaheim.

The OC Coroner identified the deceased as Mathew Hughes of Corona.

Officials said Hughes was killed about 3:35 a.m. on the eastbound side of the freeway just west of Weir Canyon Road.

Hughes was stopped in his black Volkswagen sedan when he was rear-ended by the 45-year-old driver of a pickup truck.

The CHP estimated the Ford F-150 driver to be going about 65 miles an hour at the time of the collision.

The CHP statement said it was "unknown at this time" whether Hughes had emergency flashers on.

Hughes was pronounced dead at the scene.

The CHP said the pickup truck driver was uninjured and was not cited or arrested.
