Corona House Vandalized, Police Are Stumped As They Hunt For Vandals

CORONA (CBSLA.com) — The hunt is on for a vandal or vandals who targeted a Corona house occupied by a couple and their two small children.

The taggers used black spray paint and scribbled the letters - HOEBI SMD - on the garage door. They also defaced other parts of the house and two cars parked in the driveway.

The homeowners said they did not know what those letters meant, and neither did police.

They said they liked the neighborhood and the area's schools. That's why they moved there this year.

The couple said they called their insurance company, which told them that their deductible to clean up the mess will be about $4,500 - money they said they did not have, especially during the holidays.

"It's really sad. Christmas is around the corner. Our youngest son, he's going to be three the week of Christmas. And the birthday plans are now changing because of that. It's just really sad that someone has to be so hurtful," the wife said.

The husband is out of work. The wife is a stay-at-home mom. The couple said they did not have the $4,500 to clean up the mess.

Police told CBS2's Crystal Cruz that the vandalism is mostly like an isolated incident.
