Convicted Rapist Who Met Victim On Christian Mingle To Be Sentenced Friday

EL CAJON (CBSLA.com)   —  Sean Patrick Banks, convicted of raping a woman whom he met through the Christian Mingle dating site, is scheduled to be sentenced Friday at 8:30 a.m. in San Diego Superior Court.

The victim, who is represented by well-known attorney Gloria Allred, will make a victim-impact statement in court and then plans to speak to the media for the first time after sentencing.

Banks, 37, a Del Mar resident, was convicted of rape by force and other crimes against the victim represented by Allred. Banks was also convicted of rape of an intoxicated person. That woman, not represented by Allred, also met Banks through a dating website.

On Christian Mingle, he reportedly used the name "Rarity." He is believed to have also used the names Rylan, Rylan Butterwood and Rylan Harbough.

Allred said her client, a La Mesa resident, will tell the court how the rape has affected her life. The attorney is also expected to discuss the dangers of online dating services.
