Convicted Killer, 70, Pleads Guilty To 1982 OC Murder

FULLERTON (AP) — A 70-year-old convicted killer has pleaded guilty to murdering a friend in 1982 in Orange County.

The Riverside Press-Enterprise says David Campbell pleaded guilty on Friday and was sentenced to nine years to life in prison.

He's already serving a life term for two Riverside County killings.

Campbell was charged with killing 26-year-old Frank Marshall, who vanished in January of 1982 after heading out for a motorcycle ride. Campbell had been questioned about his disappearance but never arrested.

Authorities say Marshall had been living in Oregon and while visiting Fullerton asked Campbell about a mutual friend — not knowing that Campbell had killed him.

Hikers found part of Marshall's skull near Big Bear in 1985. Cold-case detectives took the case five years ago.
