Congress Members Back Los Angeles For Olympics

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Southern California lawmakers are backing Los Angeles to host the 2024 Summer Olympics.

The Los Angeles Times reported Friday that four local Congressional members — Xavier Becerra, Julia Brownley, Tony Cardenas and Judy Chu — sent a letter to the U.S. Olympic Committee.

The letter calls LA a "vibrant and diverse city that embodies the highest ideals of the Olympic spirit."

LA hosted the 1932 and 1984 summer games.

The U.S. Olympic Committee is expected to decide in coming months whether to submit an American bid for the games. It's also narrowed the possible choices to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston or Washington, D.C.
